Dried beans: prices for kidney beans are rising

BEIJING. While prices for Chinese kidney beans have risen significantly in recent weeks, other bean varieties have maintained their price levels for the time being. High freight costs are dampening export demand.

Black kidney beans are becoming more expensive

Prices for Chinese black kidney beans, which had remained stable for a while, rose by USD 20/mt in December and are currently holding at this level. Now in winter, farmers are trying harder to get their produce to buyers, while exporters are only stocking up on the bare essentials to fulfil existing contracts. This makes it difficult to push prices up even higher. One problem is the massive increase in freight costs due to the crisis in the Red Sea, which means that sellers prefer to offer their goods on an FOB basis. M
