Sultanas: the vines awaken

MANISA. The warmer temperatures in Turkey are also heralding the start of the flowering period in the province of Manisa. However, concerns about frost and hail damage remain.

The risk remains

Last week, temperatures in the Turkish province of Manisa had already climbed to 27°C and temperatures of up to 30°C are expected this week. As a result, the vines in the sultana-growing regions have alreade awoken from their winter dormancy. Experience shows that frost and hail damage can still occur into the first week of May, but no sudden drop in temperature is currently expected. Nevertheless, it cannot be ruled out, according to market players.
