Butter: EU prices take a dip

FRANKFURT/BRUSSELS. While buyers have put off purchasing in Germany, the question remains as to how large market supplies really are. Meanwhile, the average EU and UK butter prices have declined notably. UK butter production is up.

Prices take 18.2% dip in Germany

Although suppliers in Germany are offering competitive prices, international sales fall short of expectations. Since buyers prefer to wait and trading is subdued the prices for bulk butter have declined to a level of EUR 3.56-3.66 per kg EXW at the Butter and Cheese Exchange in Kempten. Contrary to this, prices ranged 18.2% higher at EUR 4.40 per kg in the first week of February last year.
