Butter: supplies are the issue

FRANKFURT/BRUSSELS. The price hike for butter and other dairy products continues in Europe as buyers are confronted with low supplies. Supplies are, in fact, the issue as milk deliveries dip to their seasonal low. Customers are trying to secure contracts that run until well beyond the next six months.

Good Christmas sales in Germany

Retail sales are going well for packet butter in the run-up to Christmas as the Southern German Butter and Cheese Exchange in Kempten reports. The situation in the bulk butter market is, however, far from encouraging as supplies are low and prices are high. Quotations in Kempten range at EUR 5.30-5.50/kg driven by very high demand. Supplies are an issue as buyers in the dairy market are trying to secure contracts that last well beyond the first six months of 2022 as Dairy World (ZMB) reports.
