Dates: Ramadan drives up prices

TEHRAN. Due to the Ramadan festivities, prices for Iranian dates have risen in recent weeks. Exports, meanwhile, are slightly down.

Exports decline only slightly

According to the statistics of the Iranian customs office, a total of 79,733 mt of dates worth USD 69.7 million were exported from Iran in the first two months of the year. This represents a slight decrease compared to the same period last year, when 80,586 mt worth USD 69.5 million were shipped overseas. The average export price also shows only slight changes: in January and February 2021 it was USD 0.86/kg, in the same period in 2022 it reached USD 0.87/kg.
