Dried beans: new adzuki bean crop available

BEIJING. The harvest of red adzuki beans has started, but the new crop is slow to reach the markets; some farmers are unwilling to sell at current prices. Meanwhile, prices for black kidney beans have risen noticeably.

Black kidney beans significantly more expensive

Compared to last month, prices for black kidney beans have risen considerably. This is unusual in that companies are rather hesitant to buy due to higher production costs etc. and only stock up on the bare necessities in order not to incur losses. Prices are supported by farmers' decisions to hold back their goods in the hope of further increases. Market players, however, expect market prices to remain stable for the time being.
