Dried figs: over after six months

AYDIN. Exporters have unofficially declared the season over for dried figs in Turkey. Too little rain and the mild winter provide far from ideal conditions for this year's crop.

Outlook for 2024/2025

After only six months the current season is basically over. Only small volumes remain as the market is completely sold out and prices range as high as TRY 250-260/kg. Export prices are firm with Lerida no 2 dried figs trading at USD 12,289/mt FOB Izmir. Attention has shifted towards the new season with talks centred on what can happen and what the expectations are. The mild winter weather has left the trees unable to hibernate, which is not good, but the market will have to wait and see how the situation unfolds for the new crop in the next fiv
