Flaxseed: The worst is over

WARSAW. Flaxseed buyers will have to say goodbye to the record low prices of the last weeks.

Due to the early harvest end in Kazakhstan – 17% of the acreage not yet harvested – and the additional demand from China, the raw flaxseed prices for Eastern European flaxseed continue to climb.

500 Euro/mt are no longer far
Russian flaxseed, 97% purity, is at 280 EUR/mt FCA, and Kazakh produce at 275 EUR/mt FCA. The price level should continue to increase by January, but market participants figure that raw flaxseed prices will not exceed 310-315 EUR/mt FCA.
That also has an impact on flaxseed in food quality. Many Polish processors have only limited storage capacities, which is why they must always buy the raw flaxseed in a timely manner, process and deliver it. For that reason, flaxseed, brown, 99.9% purity, is offered already at 480 EUR/mt DDP Germany, and could soon exceed the 500 EUR/mt limit once again.
