Pumpkin seeds: traders must replenish stocks

DALIAN. The warehouses of Chinese pumpkin seed traders are almost empty and to fulfil their orders, they have to buy expensive raw materials from speculators. Meanwhile, the critical situation in the Red Sea is causing delays in shipments and high freight costs.

Traders have no choice

Prices for Chinese shine skins have risen slightly in recent weeks. According to local market players, farmers have already sold a large part of their stocks and most of the goods are now in the hands of speculators. As speculators have already paid high commodity prices and want to make a profit on resale, their prices are relatively high.
