SOFIA. The international hunger for Bulgarian rapeseed appears to be undiminished. But will the country be able to keep up with demand?

Optimistic outlook
Over the last few years the prices for rapeseed have generally increased. Rapeseed has consequently become quite a profitable investment for the farmers in Bulgaria. But what does the future hold? The latest estimates of the Bulgarian Ministry of Agriculture, which were published on 24 November, suggest that sowing acreage has increased by as much as 10% in comparison to last year, namely from 164,963 ha to 181,483 ha. Some farmers even expect acreage to reach as much as 200,000 ha this year since exports have increased significantly.
