ASUNCIÓN/NEW DELHI. While the mood in India after the Diwali festivities for the largest part resembles something like a hangover, traders in South America are breaking out the champagne.

Cheers in Paraguay
Traders in Paraguay are now reporting a price increase after a virtual deadlock, price-wise, in the last three weeks. As a result, Brasil is very active as a buyer at the moment, and the USA also seems to be interested in sesame seeds from Paraguay. The crop 2017 is turning out to be a difficult subject. Even though there has been some heavy rainfall, which could affect the harvest, it is too early yet to say what the damage is.

India is on holiday
For lack of buying interest, prices in India took a nose-dive this week. Many traders are still on holiday this week after the New Year festival.
